Q: What have you been up to since you got your new MBA?

A: The biggest change is that we decided to move out of San Francisco and buy a home. I also earned a fairly substantial promotion to Diamond Director at Stella and Dot and received a 25K Heart of Leadership bonus as a result!

I recently viewed the goals that I identified during the MBA program in my Evernote app, and I was excited to see that I had set my intention on receiving both the Diamond Director promotion and Heart of Leadership Bonus.

During the MBA program, I also visualized and wrote down specific details about the house I wanted. And it's crazy, but what I visualized I ended up getting plus so much more. Our new home is even more fabulous than the one I visualized!

Q: How do you want to feel? What do you do to feel that way?

A: I want to feel present. I also want to feel calm, yet excited and engaged but not frantic. I love feeling connected and an abundance of time.

What I’ve realized is that how I treat my body is REALLY connected to that outcome. I’m much more aware of that now. My diet is healthier than it has been at other times in my life and it really helps. I'm also conscious of getting enough sleep, and how much alcohol I’m drinking. I love being in nature to exercise. I'm also really cognizant of my technology use and don’t use tech after dinner unless I'm watching TV with my family.

Q: What does success mean to you?

A: Success has to do with living according to my values. And really recognizing those values and trying to live the most robust life I can that maps back to those values.

For me, it's a combination of really being available emotionally and physically for family and also pursuing a career at the same time. It’s a positive combination for me and it’s really working.

I also enjoy financial success and being able to provide for my family.

Q: What’s stuck with you most from the MBA Curriculum?

A: The mind body connection. I loved learning the science and research that addresses what I knew instinctually - I had a hunch that it’s all connected.  I loved learning more about that. The MBA program introduced me to the research behind meditation and that helped me intellectually embrace it even if i don’t have a robust practice yet.

Also, I learned how important self-compassion is. Instead of just push push push, I learned that I need to be gentle with myself.

A lot of what's presented in the MBA program is really cutting edge. I think we'll look back in 5-10 years and see that everyone is practicing this to thrive.

Q: What are the 2 or 3 things that help you stay on track?

A: It’s more like a philosophy which is that we’re not robots. The value of rest and downtime can't be underestimated. I'm an extrovert, but I value quiet time to replenish. I enjoy time to read. I love having that sense of balance and embracing the journey. It’s not all about accomplishment and achievement, each day is a joyful part of the journey.

Q: How can the new MBA community help you?

A: It would be fun to do quarterly meetups, even if it’s a short hike or brunch together. I love connecting with like minded thinkers willing to explore these topics together. I also think there is huge opportunity in the fellowship support that comes from getting a group of women together. I love the human connection of it all.

Q: What advice would you give other women on how to create success with ease?

A: The number one piece of advice is to learn how to say no. If you learn how to say no then you’ll be able to dedicate your time to what you want. Also, only commit to the things that map back to your values. Don’t feel obligated to say yes. The more confident you are, the more people will ask you to do stuff. But you need to learn the art of how to say no.

Q: Anything else you want to share?

A: Mindfulness is a progression. I’m continuously learning. I'm more aware and mindful in my day to day life, but it’s a continuum and I'm excited to continue to learn. Also, don’t feel guilty if you’re not doing it perfectly - this is a life long journey for all of us!
